This week we are learning about the desert biome. It covers about one fifth of the Earth’s surface and occurs where rainfall is less than
50 cm per year. We will concentrate on learning what desert is, and how both desert animals and plants have adapted to the environment. The children will make a desert page for their biome book. In drama, we will do a story about the life-cycle of a cactus, and the various types of animals that create the multiple ecosystems surrounding a saguaro throughout its lifetime.
