This week we will be looking at firefighters, and focussing on fire safety within the classroom. We will talk about the fact that firefighters are part of the emergency services, and that their job is to keep everyone safe by putting out fires, or using their equipment to cut strong metal to rescue people who are trapped. We will talk about where the firefighters are based: in fire stations located all across London, the country, and even the whole world! Our local fire station is Kensington and Chelsea, as pictured below. We will discuss why they are dotted all across the country, and also talk about what they do, what equipment they use such as fire engines, ladders, and hoses, as well as the uniform they wear. We will continue with our thank-you board, adding our thanks to the firefighters who keep our community safe. Help us show our appreciation by drawing a special picture for our local firefighters.
