This week the children will be looking at Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights. It is the most popular of all the festivals in South Asia and it is celebrated each year in autumn to signify the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. Throughout this week the children will be taught the story of Rama and Sita and how Rama saved Sita from the terrible demon Ravana. They will also be shown how to make diva lamps out of clay and rangoli patterns using chalk. They will dance to Bollywood music as well as feeling different textures from India, and smelling a wide range of spices.
