This week we are exploring recycling. We will have a look in the bin and learn where all the rubbish goes. We will discover and discuss that there is too much waste on our planet and we will learn about how we can help the environment. The children will sort objects made from paper, plastic, metal and glass and learn how to reduce, reuse and recycle them. There will be various activities in the curriculum areas that are relevant to the project. In the garden we will build a wormery, and learn about composting and how worms turn organic kitchen waste into soil. For our art project, we will create papier mâché and recycle old plastic bottles into decorative, useful storage containers. On Friday we will have our first “Book Swap Club”, where children can find a good new book to read while recycle books they don’t want to use anymore.
