This week we are travelling to Oceania, which consists of Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea, as well as many other small islands. We will be exploring the landscape, habitat, climate, animals and people of these three main islands. The children will make their own Oceania continent by decorating their maps with the major features of Oceania; for example, didgeridoo, boomerang, Uluru, the Sydney Opera House, the Great Barrier Reef, sheep. We will learn about the Native Aborigines in Australia and their way of life. We will also learn about the Outback and act out some of the animals that only exist in Australia by using the book, ‘No Room for Baby Roo’.
