We will talk about the changes we see happening around us in nature, and look at the leaves changing colour and falling from the trees. Acorns, conkers, pine cones and leaves will all be used in all areas of the curriculum, for counting, pairing, cutting, gluing, painting, pouring and much more. We will discuss how animals adapt to their surroundings, in particular by hibernating. The children will make their own clay hedgehogs, and fill shoeboxes with leaves to take home. They will harvested vegetables growing in the soil, prepare them for a delicious soup, and roast potatoes. In the role-play area, we will have hats, scarves, gloves and mittens for dressing up, and toy animals who need to find places to hibernate.
